About me.

My name’s Joe Knapton. I originally trained as a boatbuilder, but later transitioned into product design. Growing up, I was surrounded by our family’s graphic design and industrial photography business. This background has given me a strong understanding of product function and how to effectively showcase product features for both consumers and business-to-business purposes.

About CGI.

Computer-generated imagery (CGI) is a powerful and exciting technology with limitless possibilities for explaining and promoting products. Designs can be visualised and marketed before production even begins, with hidden components and processes displayed in absolute clarity.

Once a 3D model of your product has been created, virtually any material finish can be applied to it with extremely high levels of accuracy, allowing for a true photorealistic appearance. This enables the creation of still images and video to your exact specifications.

How it works.

The process of creating imagery typically involves these steps:

1. Product Discussion: Meet to discuss your product and how it should be presented.

2. CAD File Collection: Collect CAD files for your product, or create them if none are available.

3. 3D Model Generation: Generate a 3D model of your product with accurate material finishes.

4. Imagery Supply: Provide the imagery.

Once the 3D model is created, there’s still complete flexibility. Parts can be updated, replaced, or removed, and materials can be changed and altered endlessly. This eliminates the need for a photoshoot and allows the model to be updated and re-rendered if the design changes, making it both cost-effective and future-proof.
